Imphal Itineraries

Ready-to-use plans for 2, 3 and 4–5 days — realistic pacing, transport notes and printable day-by-day guides for the safe valley circuit.

How to use these plans

Keep it simple, stay in the valley

All itineraries keep you in the safer Imphal valley circuit — the city plus the Loktak Lake / Moirang day. Travel by day, use trusted local drivers, and check the safety page before you go.

2-Day Imphal Express

Perfect for a weekend break — the essential city sights at a relaxed pace.

Transport: taxis/auto-rickshaws in the city; a hired car for Red Hill. See transport guide.

3-Day Valley Circuit

The classic Imphal experience — city sights plus the unforgettable Loktak Lake day.

  • Day 1 — The historic heart

Kangla Fort, State Museum, Ima Keithel, Shree Govindajee Temple and the Shaheed Minar at dusk — as in the 2-day plan, at a relaxed pace.

  • Day 2 — Loktak Lake & Moirang

Early start: Drive to Loktak Lake (~50 km). Sunrise at Sendra Island.

Morning: Boat ride through the floating phumdis.

Lunch: Fresh lake fish at a local eatery.

Afternoon: INA Memorial at Moirang, then return to Imphal.

  • Day 3 — War & culture

Morning: War Cemetery and Red Hill.

Afternoon: Polo Ground, a craft-shopping session, and packing up.

Evening: Farewell dinner — try Chak-hao black rice kheer for dessert.

Transport: hire a trusted driver for Day 2 — it's a full day on the road. See transport guide.

4–5 Day Deep Dive

For the slow traveller — add a village day, a polo morning and a proper food crawl.

Tip: check the festival calendar — if your visit overlaps the Sangai Festival (late November), add an evening for it.
